The gate posts by Horrobin Cottage - the start of The Streey

Horrobin Cottage

On the chimney breast of Horrobin Cottage is the Liver Bird and a cross.

Looking back at Horrobin Cottage

Soon after leaving the gateposts there is a faint path off The Street which leads to this large quarry

All that remains of any buildings in the quarry

The Street

Veer to the right at the fork

The left hand route leads to Cunliffe Farm

Soon you approach a bridge that crosses the overflow into the River Yarrow

The overflow

And the overflow is big

H stands on the bridge. The long straight section leads to the house of the same name

Looking across Upper Rivington Reservoir to Winter Hill and Rivington Pike

The house called The Street

This is now 6 apartments, but originally it was a compensation house built by Liverpool Water Company to replace one flooded in the valley below the reservoir. It was first occupied by Peter Martin.

Looking back towards The Rivington Embankment

Looking back at the reservoir

The gateway to the house named The Street. Peter Martins initials are on each gatepost

A wider view of the gateway

It's nigh impossible to get a good photo from the north side of the house

The pets gravestone erected by Joyce, but who was Joyce? Take a look here

Close by Sam, Thomas and Laddie's grave is this newer one erected for Zeb

After leaving the house named the Street, the track climbs to these ornatecompensation houses

Looking back to the two houses

Knowsley Lodge

Approaching Knowsley Lodge this view over the overflow from Anglezarke Reservoir to the Knowsley Embankment appears to the right
